In the depilatory cream-treated dorsal skin of TG mice without any visible skin inflammation even before tape-stripping, the mRNA levels of several cytokines and chemokines, including IFNγ and IL-22, which activate macrophages [30] and are released by macrophages [31], respectively, are significantly upregulated compared to the depilatory cream-treated dorsal skin of WT mice.
