Regarding CKD etiology in HD patients, we found that patients with glomerular diseases (42 patients with diabetic kidney disease or glomerulonephritis) had higher, statistically non-significant, values of plasma KIM-1 compared to patients with non-glomerular diseases (21 patients) (528.08 ± 661.38 pg/mL vs. 209.69 ± 177.41 pg/mL, p = 0.06). Here, HAVCR1 is linked to diabetic kidney disease.
