SOD1 and Hypertension: It is possible to suggest that the use of experimental antioxidant therapy attenuates or prevents the development of hypertension through actions that include direct scavenging of ROS, mimicking antioxidants such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), and inhibiting the NAD(P)H oxidase enzyme [9,10,11,12,13], in addition to reducing the overexpression of AT1R [12,14] and attenuating cardiac and renal dysfunctions generated by hypertension [12,14].
