GISTs are driven by oncogenic mutations in KIT (60–70%) [12,13] or platelet-derived growth factor receptor-alpha (PDGFRA) (10–15%) [14], with 10–15% of tumors lacking KIT/PDGFRA mutations, referred to as wild-type GISTs (WT-GIST).
