Several studies have demonstrated that miR-204 acts as a tumor suppressor in BC by targeting key molecules involved in the EMT process (Figure 2); for instance, miR-204 has been shown to directly target and inhibit ZEB2, a transcription factor that promotes EMT, and it is also suggested that MALAT1 might enhance the EMT phenotype via the miR-204/ZEB2 axis. The gene discussed is ZEB2; the disease is breast cancer.
