In sarcomas, a high number of CD163+ TAMs is associated with poor prognosis [52], and IHC evaluation of CD163+ macrophage infiltration in high-grade leiomyosarcoma, liposarcoma, and synovial sarcoma showed that higher CD163+ macrophage infiltration was observed in high-grade liposarcoma compared to low-grade liposarcoma and was associated with shorter metastasis-free survival [82]. This evidence concerns the gene CD163 and synovial sarcoma.
