CD8A and neoplasm: The proposed mechanisms include the following: (1) the upregulation of MHC class 1 expression on tumor cells (allowing enhanced antigen presentation and recognition by cytotoxic T cells), (2) the recruitment of effector immune cells like CD8+ T cells and dendritic cells, (3) the increased lytic activity of cytotoxic T cells and NK cells, (4) the downregulation of immunosuppressive factors in the tumor microenvironment, and (5) the induction of immunogenic cell death, leading to danger signals and the release of tumor antigens.
