The patients’ respiratory-burst phenotype, restricted to GM-CSF-matured macrophages (MDMs and AML cells) in vitro, was also narrower than that in patients with MSMD due to specific variants in CYBB selectively disrupting the respiratory burst in both GM-CSF- and M-CSF/IL-4-matured MDMs20, probably accounting for their clinical phenotype being restricted to TB, without BCG disease. This evidence concerns the gene CYBB and acute myeloid leukemia.
