All these correlations between IGF2BP3 with glioma and glioblastoma as well as the oncogenic functions of METTL1 in these tumors indicate that METTL1 might act as a critical player in tumorigenesis not only through m7G-modified tRNAs as previously reported27,28, but also through internal m7G modifications within mRNAs and the mRNA m7G regulation by IGF2BP3. The gene discussed is METTL1; the disease is glioblastoma.
