MBTPS1 and hypertensive disorder: S1P is an important regulator of both vascular and immune cell function and associates with increments in BP; hence, it has been suggested as a biomarker of vascular dysfunction and a predictive marker for hypertensive disease.5 Despite the lack of differences in plasma S1P levels between adolescents born very preterm and term (Table 1, part A), S1P correlated with several BP variables (Table 1B).
