Adjustment for other major cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors affected the significance of five phenotypes with a Cohen’s f2 close to 0.01: the interaction effects for hematocrit, uric acid and systolic blood pressure (SBP) became nonsignificant, while interaction effects for leukocyte count and C-reactive protein became significant; however, the pattern of age-dependent sex differences remained similar (Supplementary Table 2 and Supplementary Fig. 2).
