In the human gut, CCL28 is upregulated during inflammation of the gastric mucosa in Helicobacter pylori-infected patients (Hansson et al., 2008) and in the colon of patients with ulcerative colitis, a prominent form of inflammatory bowel disease (Lee et al., 2021; Ogawa et al., 2004). Here, CCL28 is linked to ulcerative colitis.
