DAO and neurodegenerative disease: (Guo et al., 2024a) showed that an approach utilizing yeast d-amino acid oxidase (DAAO) was able to manipulate intracellular redox metabolism through the production of hydrogen peroxide in the presence of d-amino acids and led to the development of new and informative animal models to characterize the effects of oxidative stress on heart failure and neurodegenerative diseases (Guo et al., 2024a).
