It has also been reported in the literature that mutations in the ERCC2 gene increase the sensitivity to cisplatin in chemotherapy in patients with bladder cancer, that mutations in the ERCC3 gene increase the risk of breast and ovarian cancer, that ERCC4 correlates with overall survival in patients with ovarian cancer and in patients with gastric cancer, and that ERCC5 has been determined to be a prognostic indicator of survival in patients with ovarian cancer (33, 34, 36–39). Here, ERCC5 is linked to urinary bladder cancer.
