Because thrombocytopenia could result from impaired control of apoptosis and differentiation of megakaryocytes, events potentially involved in these processes, such as CYCS expression, adhesion, shape, size, ploidy, viability, mitochondrial respiration, caspase activation and expression of cell surface antigens, were studied in MEG‐01 cells modified to carry CYCS variant p.(Thr20Ile). The gene discussed is CYCS; the disease is Thrombocytopenia.
