We also used quantitative immunohistochemistry and Western blotting to determine how changes in TP protein relate to changes in protein levels of Nrf2 and HO1 and found that changes in hepatocyte accumulation of Nrf2 and HO1 parallel changes in TP, i.e., levels of all 3 proteins decrease with increasing severity of MASLD in humans (Figure 2, G–J) and mice (Figure 2, C–F, and Figure 3, A and B).
