Borissoff et al. observed that nucleosomes can potentially predict severe coronary stenosis; that dsDNA was increased in patients with severe CAD or coronary artery calcification; that circulating dsDNA, nucleosomes and MPO–DNA complexes were positively associated with luminal stenosis, and that these markers of NET formation were predictive indicators for major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) (Borissoff et al., 2013). This evidence concerns the gene MPO and coronary artery disorder.
