We also found that compared to type 1 diabetes subjects with classical HLA haplotypes, non-classical HLA subjects had a significantly higher frequency of HLA-B*39:06:02 (p-value=0.01) and HLA-C*07:02:01 (p-value=0.03) alleles, known to be involved in activating the immune response. Here, HLA-B is linked to type 1 diabetes mellitus.
