OPA1 has been implicated in various other diseases as well, including normal tension glaucoma (Powell et al., 2003; Yu-Wai-Man et al., 2010b), multiple sclerosis-like illness (Verny et al., 2008; Yu-Wai-Man et al., 2016), Parkinson’s disease and dementia (Carelli et al., 2015; Lynch et al., 2017), and cardiomyopathy (Spiegel et al., 2016). Here, OPA1 is linked to Parkinson disease.
