More recently, rodent models of immune-mediated seizures in the context of autoimmune encephalitis have also been developed proving the direct epileptogenicity of antigen-specific antibodies (e.g., to the NMDAR, GABAAR (gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor) and LGI1 (leucine-rich glioma inactivated 1) protein) (31, 35, 70). The gene discussed is LGI1; the disease is autoimmune encephalitis.
