Parfenov et al. (2014) analyzed HR-HPV integration in head and neck cancer and reported that it occurs in genes involved in cancer development, such as the protooncogenes RAD51B, ETS2, NR4A2, TPRG1, TP63, and KLF5 and in the intron of CD247 (programmed death ligand 1 PDL1), demonstrating that the integration of HR-HPV is associated with somatic alterations of critical genes involved in cancer development [13].
