In fact, short‐term treatment with sulforaphane attenuated cardiac I/R injury by increasing SOD, CAT, and heme oxygenase‐1 levels in isolated rat heart (Piao et al., 2010), whereas chronic administration of sulforaphane prevented the increase in right ventricular systolic pressure, mitigated right ventricular hypertrophy and vascular remodeling, reduced the amount of the oxidative marker MDA, and increased the expression/activity of antioxidant enzymes (i.e., SOD) in the serum of mice exposed to chronic hypoxia (Pan et al., 2023). This evidence concerns the gene SOD1 and Right ventricular hypertrophy.
