One study using the FDA pharmacovigilance database suggested disproportionate reporting for suicidal ideation and suicidal depression for semaglutide and liraglutide,21 whereas another study did not detect an association between suicidality and GLP-1 RAs.22 Likewise, a cohort study using electronic health records did not detect higher risks of suicidal ideation in patients with obesity or diabetes treated with semaglutide compared with non–GLP-1 RAs.40 Compared with this study, in our analysis we also included patients with potential off-label prescription of GLP-1 RAs. This evidence concerns the gene GCG and major depressive disorder.
