TP53 and cancer: Dysregulation of TP53 can lead to metabolic reprogramming, which is often observed in cancer and other diseases (Leu et al., 2020; Motlagh et al., 2022; Luo et al., 2023; Roche et al., 2023) and can also lead to decreased mitochondrial activity, further compromising energy production and forcing cells to increasingly rely on glycolysis, which is inefficient (Figure 2) (Motlagh et al., 2022; Luo et al., 2023; Roche et al., 2023).
