This choice of cut-off was also supported by work demonstrating a CRP cut-off of 44.1 mg/l as having a negative predictive value of 92% for radiologic end-point pneumonia [23], and a trial conducted in Myanmar and Thailand in which a cut-off of 40 mg/l for antibiotic prescription in febrile illness was safe [33]. Here, CRP is linked to susceptibility to pneumonia measurement.
