A recent study found that BRAF mutations in ctDNA are detectable in more than 75% of melanoma patients harboring BRAF V600E/V600K-positive tumors, suggesting that lacking BRAF mutation-positive ctDNA may be a prognostic indicator for better outcome for metastatic melanoma patients (Santiago-Walker et al., 2016). The gene discussed is BRAF; the disease is metastatic melanoma.
