BRCA1 and ovarian serous adenocarcinoma: In 15% of cases of high-grade serous ovarian cancer, there is a germline mutation of the BRCA1/2 gene, in 6% of cases a somatic mutation of the BRCA1/2 gene, and in 20% of cases a mutation of other genes involved in homologous recombination, for example, mutations and/or epigenetic silencing of the genes TR, ATM, RAD51/54, CHK1/2, NBS1, PALB2, and PTEN and which equally determine a profile defined as “BRCA-ness” (3, 4).
