Background: Overweight and obesity are escalating public health concerns globally, and India is also experiencing a significant rise in the population of overweight and obese people. Tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) is a type of cytokine that has garnered attention in particularly obesity-related metabolic disturbances. This study aimed to assess TNF-α levels in overweight and obese adults and explore its correlation with metabolic syndrome and associated biochemical parameters in the northeastern Indian population. This evidence concerns the gene TNF and metabolic syndrome.
