In our study, we identified a negative correlation between hsa-miR-224-5p and the concentrations of IL-6, TNF-α, IL-10, and IL-1β (correlation coefficients: −0.89, −0.71, −0.53, and − 0.46, respectively), suggesting a potential regulatory role in suppressing the inflammatory response in MIS-C patients. The gene discussed is IL10; the disease is COVID-19–associated multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children.
