CD8A and infection: As a consequence, CD8 T cells primed in the PLN in the course of infection with mCMV-ΔM36 do not become re-stimulated in the spleen, so that the early advantage of priming by mCMV-ΔM36 is lost over time until CD8 T cells primed and re-stimulated by mCMV-ΔM36-Rev dominate the virus-specific memory CD8 T-cell pool (S2B Fig).
