The mechanisms underlying drug resistance include changes in drug transport, leading to reduced entry or increased efflux of drugs from tumor cells and increased expression of GSTs, thus enhancing the conjugation of chemotherapeutic agents, especialy of the alkylating agents (e.g. cisplatin, chlorambucil, melphalan, carmustine, cyclophosphamide, thiotepa) that have been used for the treatment of a wide variety of MDR cancers including multiple myeloma, lymphoma, glioma, prostate, ovarian, bladder, lung, etc [8, 10–13]. Here, HPGDS is linked to cancer.
