HK2, one of the major hexokinase isoforms, is critically important for aerobic glycolysis in multiple cancer types, including CRC [45, 46], hepatocellular carcinoma [64], glioblastoma multiforme [65], breast cancer [66], ovarian cancer [67], etc. In our study, HFCS increased the levels of HK2 in CRC cells, and butyrate supplement significantly abrogated this tendency. This evidence concerns the gene HK2 and breast cancer.
