S100A4 is a metastatic protein, also considered as an EMT-promoting protein, which is strongly associated with poor prognosis in CRC and promotes tumor cell progression and metastasis by down-regulating E-cadherin and modulating the EMT mesenchymal phenotype in epithelial cells (Fei et al., 2017). This evidence concerns the gene S100A4 and colorectal carcinoma.
