Recent studies have indicated SIK1 acts as a tumor suppressor in many cancer types by promoting p53-dependent anoikis in breast cancer, inhibiting lipid metabolism reprogramming in pancreatic tumorigenesis, and mediating the tumor suppressor function of LKB1 in lung cancer (Cheng et al., 2009; Patra et al., 2018; Hollstein et al., 2019).
