IL-6 is involved in theinitiation and progression of atherosclerosis, which actives inflammatoryreactions and regulates oxidative stress by stimulating the liver to synthesizeacute phase reactants, activating endothelial cells, promoting lymphocyteproliferation and differentiation, enhancing blood coagulation, which thenaccelerates lipid deposition and the formation of foam cells [11]. Here, IL6 is linked to atherosclerosis.
