Although no patients were included in this study, we would like to initiate a discussion or future research direction on the use of anti-Hsp70 autoantibodies as a potential “biomarker” in the diagnosis or prediction of autoimmune diseases characterized by an increased titer of anti-Hsp70 autoantibodies in the serum (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, dermatitis herpetiformis or coeliac diseases) using biological samples, such as saliva or urine. This evidence concerns the gene HSPA1A and autoimmune disease.
