Currently, there exist over 20 types of protein conformational diseases, such as the association of Type 2 diabetes (T2D) with pancreatic islet amyloid polypeptide; AD with Tau protein and β-amyloid protein (25, 26); Parkinson’s disease with α-nucleosynthetic protein (27, 28); and transmissible spongiform encephalopathy with prion protein; Huntington’s syndrome with polyglutamine aggregation, among others (29). This evidence concerns the gene IAPP and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
