The aim of this review is, according to known mechanisms of kidney and liver injuries induced by acute intravascular hemolysis and results obtained from investigation of the role of Gal-3 in the development of different inflammatory and fibrotic renal and liver diseases, to give a relevant rationale for a possible role of Gal-3 in the pathogenesis of intravascular hemolysis-induced organ damage [5,12,13,14,15,16]. Here, LGALS3 is linked to liver disorder.
