Baseline medication use and the proportion of patients with inpatient stays or emergency department visits were similar between the two groups, although a higher proportion of patients in the hyperkalemia cohort received angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists at baseline, while a higher proportion of patients in the nonhyperkalemia cohort received angiotensin receptor blockers at baseline (Table 1).
