Figure 1D shows a heatmap of the top differentially regulated genes identified in this study. The top downregulated genes were STAG1 (log2FC = −0.63, p < 0.05), SPCS3 (log2FC = −0.62, p < 0.05), SAR1B (log2FC = −0.61, p < 0.05), and USP8 (log2FC = −0.61, p < 0.05). The top downregulated transcription factors comprised FOXQ1 (log2FC = −0.61, p < 0.05) and E2F3 (log2FC = −0.61, p < 0.05). E2F3 has been implicated in atherosclerosis [19], but the role of FOXQ1 in atherosclerosis is unknown. This evidence concerns the gene SAR1B and atherosclerosis.
