Upon consultation of a laboratory medicine specialist, some variables were considered as of medium importance to predict bacteremia: potassium (POTASS) (which is related to kidney function), and some acute-phase related parameters such as fibrinogen (FIB), C-reactive protein (CRP), aspartate transaminase (ASAT), alanine transaminase (ALAT), and gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT). This evidence concerns the gene CRP and bacterial infectious disease with sepsis.
