Tenascin C was recently shown to be highly upregulated in systemic sclerosis and to be associated with fibrosis (Bale et al. 2023), while SH3PXD2A (formerly TKS5) is involved in extracellular matrix degradation in both normal podosomes/invadopodia and in cancer cells (Blouw et al. 2008). The gene discussed is SH3PXD2A; the disease is cancer.
