The relationship between colitis and colon cancer is well-known (Sato et al. 2023), but distinct from individual studies on SIRT5 (Ekremoglu and Koc 2021; Wang et al. 2020) or p53 research (Liebl and Hofmann 2021), this study confirmed the central role of the SIRT5/p53 axis in this process using a mouse model with p53 gene knockout. The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is malignant colon neoplasm.
