Recent research by Sasaki et al. revealed that cases of alcoholic cirrhosis with associated hepatic nodules expressed immunohistochemistry serum amyloid A, linked to the inflammatory subtype of HCA, and some cases expressed signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) mutations, implicated in HCA pathogenesis [4]. This evidence concerns the gene STAT3 and alcoholic liver cirrhosis.
