When comparing activated versus suppressed tumors, we found significant differences in the cell composition of the tumor microenvironment, with CD8 T cells being more frequent in the activated subgroup whereas macrophages were more often seen in the suppressed group, with increased M2/M1 ratio in the suppressed subgroup and increased expression of CD163 and CD206 (Fig. 3b,c).
