ACE and diabetes mellitus: In simple logistic regression analysis of all baseline characteristics age (p = 0.001), diabetes mellitus (p = 0.003), previous myocardial infarction (p = 0.018), Killip class on admission (p < 0.001), number of diseased vessels (p = 0.013), coronary arterial bypass grafting (p = 0.008) as the infarct related artery, stent implanted (p = 0.037), aspirin (p = 0.035), beta-blocker (p < 0.001), angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor/(angiotensin) AT-1 antagonist (p = 0.046), aldosterone antagonist (p = 0.029) and statins (p = 0.003) showed significant predictive associations with MACE.
