This decrease in Dectin-1 expression translates to a diminished capacity for ROS generation in response to Mtb. Notably, the decreased Mtb-induced ROS production in the PMNs of TB patients appears to be specifically associated with Dectin-1, as previous investigations have indicated heightened activation and increased ROS levels in response to fMLP, a nonspecific chemoattractant stimulus [22].
