These studies have revealed that miRNAs, including miR‐23b, miR‐193a‐3p, and miR‐21, can directly target PTEN, suppressing its expression, thus promoting the constitutive activation of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway and playing an oncogenic role in the initiation and progression of RCC.36 This evidence concerns the gene PTEN and renal cell carcinoma.
