The pathogenesis of COPD involves major inflammatory factors, including tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), leukotriene B4 (LTB4) and interleukin-6 (IL-6).10,11 A variety of treatments are available for COPD, but the prognosis in the majority of cases remains suboptimal in terms, and suffer in terms of physical and mental health, resulting in their reduced quality of life.
