A biomarker panel conducted among 54 AIS patients and 214 stroke mimics that included a combination of von Willebrand factor, MMP-9, S100B, Monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, B-type neurotrophic growth factor yielded a sensitivity of 90.7%, and a specificity of 96.7% for detection of ischemic stroke within 12 h (46). The gene discussed is S100B; the disease is androgen insensitivity syndrome.
